Lake Rowell Fishing

Lake Rowell is located near Starke and is a flat bottomed, shallow lake that connects to Lake Sampson through a channel. Lake Rowell features good largemouth bass fishing from January-June on purple and black plastic worms. Live shiners drifted in open water work well. Artificial lures are most effective cast into the cypress trees along the shoreline. Black crappie fishing is excellent drifting in open water with live minnows. Bluegills and shellcracker grow at a fast rate in this eutrophic lake and offer some good fishing. Worms and crickets work best when the fish move in the cypress tree shoreline and the best months are typically April-June. The winter months on Lake Rowell can be excellent for sunshine bass fishing.
